Sleep medicine entrepreneur David Walton, founder of Respire Medical—an oral appliance marketer acquired by Whole You—and custom swim goggle maker THEMAGIC5—with facial scanning and fitting technology—have formed a company named Vayu Sleep. Vayu Sleep’s platform will allow patients to complete a facial scan with their phone, then THEMAGIC5’s patented technology will design and customize the CPAP nasal mask, which will ship to the patient within 5 days.

“Through our work in perfecting swim goggle comfort and performance, we have gained detailed expertise in the variance of facial features. But just like you can’t fit 70 million swimmers into one standard goggle, you can’t fit millions of sleep patients into a small, medium, or large nasal mask,” says Rasmus Barfred, co-founder of THEMAGIC5, in a release. “With Vayu Sleep, we will leverage our technology to make the world’s most comfortable CPAP mask, and improve life quality for patients all over the world.”

Vayu Sleep CEO David Walton, adds in a release, “Sleep apnea is potentially life threatening; however, way too many patients quit the gold-standard treatment, simply because their mask is uncomfortable. Through this joint venture, we’re combining expertise, technologies, skills, and infrastructure to deliver patient solutions in a matter of days.”

In 2021, THEMAGIC5 received a million-dollar investment on Shark Tank from investors Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. Since appearing on the TV show, the company has invested in its patented customization technology. The team is now ready to introduce it to a new group of clients.
